Waypoint
Mk I Airsoft capture point and domination box
A capture point that decides for itself. A ring of light shows which team holds the ground, players take it by standing on it, and it keeps playing when the network does not.
The point owns the ground. The console only keeps score.
Ownership is decided on the device: a player’s tag has to be close enough, for long enough. That is why a point keeps working through a network outage — the game does not stop because the WiFi did. The console collects the score, draws the settings form and pushes new firmware. It is not in the loop when a point changes hands.
THREE WAYS TO PLAY
Chosen from the console. The same points run all three.
Domination
Every point on the site is live at once. Stand in a point’s ring for the capture time to flip it to your team, and each point you hold scores a point a second, so two points score twice as fast as one. They change hands all game, and the best score when the clock stops wins.
King of the Hill
One point, and everybody wants it. Whoever is standing on it scores for every second they keep it, and it changes hands as often as people can push each other off. Best score when the clock stops takes the game. It is Domination narrowed down to a single point, which turns the whole site into one long argument over one patch of ground.
Hardpoint Rotation
Only one point is live at a time and it moves on a timer. The live one burns bright and pulses while the rest sit dim, and it is the only one scoring. When it moves the whole game moves with it, so teams have to break contact and rush the next one, over and over.
ONE POINT, OR A WHOLE FIELD
Not hardware tiers — every Waypoint is the same unit. What the count changes is which games you can run.
One point
A single contested point: hold it to score in King of the Hill. A complete game on one unit.
Two or more
Several points, each scoring for whoever holds it. The score comes from ground held over time, so the fight spreads out across the site.
Three or more
One point is live at a time and only that one scores. It moves to another point on a timer — the live one burns bright, the rest go dark, and the whole field has to move with it.
WHAT A POINT DOES
Shipping firmware, updated over the air.
